Where the elk come for cocktails

Q Ranch offers several choices for lodging: a campsite; a bunkhouse with a full kitchen for those who prefer to bring and prepare their own food; and the main lodge, with comfortable rooms, interior and exterior access and all meals provided.

Room Options at Q Ranch

Rooms at Q Ranch are decorated with antique furnishings; each room has its own character. There are six upstairs bedrooms, each of which sleeps two. Three rooms contain two twin beds each, one has a queen bed, one a king, and one a double bed. There are three shared bathrooms. The upstairs may be accessed via two staircases, one inside and one outside. An additional, ground-floor guest room has a king bed, and a bathroom that is shared with diners and day visitors.

There is a self-contained bunkhouse adjacent to the lodge. It has two twin beds; a sitting area; a fully-furnished kitchenette with sink, stove and refrigerator; a 3/4-bath and a clothes washer.

A night's stay in the main lodge includes dinner on the day of your arrival, and breakfast and lunch (sometimes brunch, on Sundays) the next day. Bunkhouse guests may elect to take meals at the lodge or they may bring their own food and prepare and eat their meals at the bunkhouse.

The Q has a reputation for fine dining and excellent meals, and every effort is made to accommodate guests' dietary needs. Dining is family style; there is no menu to order from, so it is not possible to guarantee vegan, lactose-free or gluten-free meals. The nearest grocery store is in Payson (a 90-minute drive) and the nearest place to eat is in Young, a 22-mile drive.

A special refrigerator is set aside for guests who wish to bring their own favorite food, snacks and/or beverages, including alcohol.

Camping
There is a quiet, forested campsite, located a few hundred yards to the west of the lodge. Inquiries about the campsite welcome.

Pets
Pets are not permitted.

Smoking
Smoking is permitted only on the patio and in the carport. Butt cans are provided for the disposal of smoking materials. Fire danger is often extreme during non-monsoon conditions, so smokers are urged to be careful.

Note
Q Ranch is "off the grid." Electricity is solar, with generator backup. Water comes from several wells. There is no TV or phone. The ranch is a cell phone dead zone; the nearest signal, depending on your provider (and the direction the wind blows), is 2-12 miles away. There is satellite wi-fi, and many smartphones offer wi-fi calling. Due to bandwidth limitations, guests bringing laptops, tablets and similar devices are asked to confine their use to email only. If the bandwidth limit is reached, service drops to dial-up speeds. There is no air-conditioning; daytime temps rarely reach discomfort levels and summer nights are always cool.
All fire regulations must be strictly adhered to.
